Essence of Mindfulness : 6-session series

The International Mindfulness Center Asia Pacific (IMC-AP) was established with the aim of promoting and utilizing evidence-based mindfulness in the Asia Pacific region. We began our activities in Japan as the International Mindfulness Center Japan (IMCJ), and in response to voices from surrounding countries hearing of our activities and expressing their wish for training, we started our activities in Asia Pacific to create an environment where training can be received in English. We offer various programs that integrate the traditions of Eastern meditation with the insights of Western psychology.
To commemorate the opening of International Mindfulness Center Asia Pacific, we carry out some webinars to make the wisdom of mindfulness and compassion accessable to people in the Asia Pacific region.

What is wisdom? How is it viewed in the West (from scientific research) and in the East (from Buddhist psychology)? How can we cultivate wisdom? And what is the value of cultivating wisdom? In this webinar, we will explore these questions in theory and in practice (through meditation and interpersonal mindfulness practice) and highlight how this can contribute to a greater sense of ‘we-together’ rather than ‘me-first’ or ‘you-first’.
Familiarity with the practice of mindfulness is recommended but not necessary.

Feeling tone – also known in the Buddhist traditions as vedana (the moment-by-moment felt-sense of how much any sensation, thought or emotion feels pleasant, unpleasant, or neither) is very important as it is a tipping point for all reactivity. This Webinar will offer a chance to explore the psychological science and practice that informs the new Feeling Tone course from the new book Deeper Mindfulness. We will explore the rationale for different aspect of the programme, how to become more aware of feeling tones and their impact, and how such awareness can make a difference in daily life.
